DESCRIPTION
With Naria comes a gust of fresh air. They are like Three Graces, only done right. Less cheese, more edge. Instrumentally (or electronically...) Naria are as pop as an act can get but their operatic vocals and the splash of classical adaptation (Mozart's 'Lacrimosa' can be heard on 'The Witch') brings them to our arena. Despite their classical training, the girls prove versatile enough to perform with grit and urban flavour, providing pop chart type hooks and reaping in influence from techno and world music. They perform their own songs though we have the rare standard (see 'Nella Fantasia' below) to rein in at least some of the traditional classical crossover audience. But the familiarity stops there. Clearly a group aimed at the younger generation, or at least an audience who plays plenty of Rihanna along with their Andrea Bocelli, Naria should be appreciated by admirers of Bond, early Vanessa-Mae and the daring Micaela Haley.
