DESCRIPTION

Affinití (previously known as Celtic Rose; let's be glad of the name change...) are in a unique position on CCUK: where to categorise them, is the question?  Truth is, there aren't any classical crossover artists like this.  We have Emer Barry as the group's soprano and only vocalist, Mary McCague on the violin and Aisling Ennis on the harp.  The trio are from Ireland and are strongly influenced by Celtic music whilst infusing it with pop, classical and rock.  Their arrangements are simple, but are strictly kept to vocal, violin and harp, which sets them apart from other groups and inevitably makes them more interesting.  Below is their music video to Evanescence's 'My Immortal'; a rock ballad turned classical crossover standard if there ever was one. It's immediately obvious that the band have something different to offer as they have, hands down, created the most satisfying version ever recorded in the CC realm.  Is it a fluke or are they the revelation of 2012?  Their debut release, Rebirth is out now - find out for yourself.

I don't care where you categorise Affiniti as long as they they are here, a lovely group of Ladies with a great sound, and I really enjoyed their videos before coming here to make a comment

:-) I'm a huge Affiniti fan!!! They got me in great Christmas spirit this morning as I watched them on Ireland AM TV play all the Christmas classics with their own unique style. They come across as such friendly and bubbly girls too. Such a joy to watch! Happy Christmas everyone :-)

I saw them play their 'one night like this concert' in Cork on Arthur Guinness Day. It was exactly like you said, "hair standing on the back of your neck". I just knew that night I was present at the beginning of something very special. These girls have it all. I predict big things in the coming months for them.

I am lucky enough to have seen Affinity twice while I have been based in Dublin over the last few months. I saw them in a small intimate venue and was absolutely blown away. Hairs on the neck time, their version of the Bangles Eternal Flame was out of this world, absolutely loved Falling Slowly, in fact everything. Check them out!

Had the pleasure of seeing Affiniti play in Dublin back in August in an small intimate venue. It was my first time seeing them and what an amazing gig, they absolutely blew me away. Their version of Eternal Flame by the Bangles was one of my highlights of 2012, Falling Slowly was hair on the back of your head territory, in fact most of the night was. What a night!
