DESCRIPTION
We think Mary-Jess Leaverland is going to be a very special artist. She has a beautiful crystal voice, a unique story and stunning good looks but most importantly of all, Leaverland's material is set to be drastically different to other classical crossover artists. This is made significant by her signing to Decca who usually love to pump out 'Time To Say Goodbye' and 'You Raise Me Up' to an oversaturated market. An artist given new material (and allowed to write her own!) and given Eastern flavours by a Western major record company can only be exciting for the genre as a whole. Her story is well documented in the UK press by now: a British exchange student visits China for a year knowing very little Mandarin and enters the Chinese equivalant of X-Factor. The result? 70 million people watched Leaverland take the crown. Her student visa didn't allow her to take the full prize or record music, but after telling her story to a local newspaper in the UK, word spread and Leaverland found herself being courted by major record companies and Russell Watson's management. It's a fantastic story and most fortunately she has the voice and music to match. Her songs are deliciously fresh with a slight tang of orient flavour. Leaverland is uplifting and summery and is bound to leave a smile on anyone's face. Her debut full length album is out now.

Mary-Jess captured my heart when I heard her sing "Glorious" on YT.Her nimble vocals and deep emotional attachment to her music made me an instant fan.So young and so talented she is a joy to follow.

Mary Jess is an amazing singer and songwriter. I love her album. Her voice is beautiful and I'd love to hear another album by her.
