DESCRIPTION
Kristyn Murphy started her career as a vocalist in 2003 when she collaborated with the Center Drive Singers to release the album Sweet Freedom, dedicated to the heroes of America in the wake of 9/11. Since then she has recorded two studio albums and a mini CD, Soul of the Nation, which was given to soldiers overseas. Murphy is nicknamed the Barefoot Soprano by her fans because of her habit of performing shoeless, but it also says much about her personality. Bubbly and laid back, Murphy engages with her fans indiscriminately and is endlessly supportive of other artists. Her indie status suits her - she is not to be rooted to any one place and not to be controlled. Although Murphy doesn't compose her own material her repertoire is so unusual and obscure that her music may as well be original.
