DESCRIPTION
Aled Jones became a household name when he was only a small choirboy singing a cover version of ’Walking in the Air’ in 1985. Jones left the recording scene when his voice broke, but emerged again in 1999 as a baritone. Almost all of his albums are classical though his voice is not operatic; they mostly contain religious hymns and traditional standards, though a recent album contained pop and swing numbers. Jones is not really for the adventurous as he does little to deviate from the standard classical crossover repertoire. Vocally, he sounds almost identical to Will Martin. Jones has spent most of recording life signed to Universal but 2011 saw his first album launch as an independent artist. Other than performing and recording, Jones is best known as a radio and TV presenter. He is a regular on BBC's Songs of Praise and he most recently secured a presenting position on Daybreak alongside Lorraine Kelly, replacing Adrian Chiles.
