ARTIST OVERALL RATINGS
The Italian soprano grew up with operatic parents, but also grew up loving pop - the result is somewhat different to other crossover artists. Whilst they are busy trying to find pop songs to sing in an operatic style, Filippa Giordano is doing the exact opposite, converting everyone's favourite arias into relaxing and smooth pop songs in her dazzling whistle register. Opera buffs will scream 'SACRILEGE!' and burn effigies of the lady, no doubt, but her radio friendly adaptations will appeal to many classical crossover listeners, especially as the beautiful arrangements more or less stay true to the original intent. For ones that this doesn't appeal to, Giordano also dabbles with original songs and works with some of the best musicians in the business; many of her original songs come from Francesco Sartori - the composer of 'Time To Say Goodbye' and 'Canto Della Terra', and the renowned film composer, Ennio Morricone, has requested her presence more than once. She's versatile and interesting, and should appeal to Sarah Brightman and Giorgia Fumanti fans.
