Blake Album Review
DESCRIPTION
Blake's claim to fame was to be the first crossover band to form through social networking site Facebook. This served them well in their marketing, and they further made use of the method when original member Dominic Tighe left the group, and used new networking site, Twitter, to find the new member, Humphrey Berney who featured on Hayley Westenra's Treasure album. Blake is essentially another boy band like Il Divo but less operatic. Their debut album covered a variety of styles of music, and they were unafraid of performing solid pop songs in a pop way (such as the Beach Boys classic 'God Only Knows'). Their second and third albums continued the style, and saw an increase of pop songs, but they also saw an increase of standards and are less diverse and original than their debut. They parted with Universal after their second album and impressively launched their third album on their own label which was the first indie album to ever be nominated for the 'Album of the Year' award at the Classical Brits. Still going strong, the boys are building their profile internationally and have one of the most busy touring schedules in the genre. *update* Jules Knight as left the group.
