DESCRIPTION
If there was ever anyone to bring younger audiences to classical music, it will be Lindsey Stirling.  A goddess among nerds, Stirling gives hope to all indie artists everywhere.  Her debut independent album charted in the US billboards, topped the US dance chart and topped the US classical charts.  She's the second person to top both charts with the same album (the first was Sarah Brightman).  After the success of her album, Stirling embarked on a US and European tour.  It's a footnote that Stirling appeared on America's Got Talent - she was voted out during the semi-finals and was told by the judges that she needs to join a band and she can't sell out shows (ha!).  Through the show, however, she was contacted by the cinematographer Devin Graham who has gone on to work on nearly all of her videos.  Her original dubstep composition, 'Crystallize', put her on the map by becoming a huge Youtube hit (it was the 8th most viewed video on Youtube in 2012) and her channel has accumulated over 200 million views since.  Her success is achieved simply by being her nerdy but cool self.  Her material ranges from classical, dub step, pop covers and probably most importantly, game music.  She's the only classical crossover artist (and she's a lot more besides) that appeals to the Facebook generation due to her truly modernised violin, engaging with their interests (making music videos for computer games like Zelda, Skyrim and Assassin's Creed) and always keeping her sense of humour.

I agree with mirtrione- don't give AGT credit they don't deserve. Lindsey's success came from her own gift and her strong determination. Piers Morgan was just wrong, as usual. He bases his career and TV show on being wrong!

Lindsey didn't really come "from" AGT though. She was kicked out and nobody thought any more of her. The success she has now was self-made - nothing to do with AGT, audience-wise. :)

I remember Lindsey when she was competing on AGT with Jackie Evancho season 5, Lindsey and Jackie may both be the best talents to ever come from AGT.

The Temple Square in Salt Lake City held 28,000 people for a magnificent concert tonight. The venue is immense, choir and orchestra awesome. The air streaming had it's problems. First we were hearing Spanish and Portugese in the background. When Nathan Pacheco sang his first song, Avatar, it became apparent that there was time delay and that song and his second in Italian were ruined. The orchestra played a song by Secret Garden and the time delay was corrected. Lindsey appeared and looked lovely. But the arrangement of flowers along the stage and the fog almost obliterated her feet. Lindsey brought me to tears with her explanation of her second song, Poor Little Lamb. It was a song her grandfather's men sang in World War II and he sang it for Lindsey's mother as a lullaby. Lindsey dedicated the song to her grandfather. By her last song, Scotland the Brave, the camera angle was better and there was no fog.
Nathan sang Nessun Dorma. Lindsey was a delight!

Lindsey will be performing with Nathan Pacheco and contemporary vocalist, James Taylor on July 19th and 20th, with the Utah Symphony Orchestra and the legendary Mormon Tabernacle Choir at the Pioneer Day Concert in Salt Lake City.
This event is extremely popular in Utah, so if you plan on attending, purchase tickets ASAP.
