ARTIST OVERALL RATINGS
DESCRIPTION
Méav Ní Mhaolchatha is already well known among CC veterans as an ex-member of the best selling female crossover group, Celtic Woman. Méav started her professional career as a member of choral group Anúna in the nineties. She enjoyed much success touring America and Asia and recording solo albums before becoming a founding member of Celtic Woman. She left the group in 2008 though she sporadically records with them and other (ex) members from time to time. As her background dictates, Méav is heavily influenced by Celtic and folk music which she infuses with her classical training. She possesses a crystal clear vocal that made her a favourite when she was in Celtic Woman. Her voice has much warmth and emotion, which enables her to deliver unique renditions of standards and build strong foundations in original material. Although she has enjoyed global success, her latest album, The Calling, is aimed at the UK market, with an August release date. It will contain old favourites alongside new songs. CCUK strongly recommends Méav if you're a fan of Siobhan Owen, and vice versa.
